Prince of Wales Hospital Memorial Garden Signage Design by Studio Gerber

SEGD Honour Award

Prince Of Wales Hospital Memorial Garden

Jury’s Comments

“Interpreting a forgotten history requires speaking to the observer in strong and emotional terms. The elegant line of name plaques in the linear horizontal format is a story statement of time and remembrance. Incorporating the names into a serene garden provides timelessness. The contrast of the stainless plaques applied to the long stone edge catches the light and allows renewal through remembrance.”

“The stoic and linear spacing of the rectilinear forms are an especially fitting approach to this elegant memorial.”

Five Dock Library Wayfinding Signage Design By Studio Gerber

SEGD Merit Award

Five Dock Library

Jury’s Comments

“This program effectively uses large, three-dimensional numerals that provide identification of various spaces in the library and also serve as architectural elements that punctuate and add whimsy to the space. Each numeral is used in a different way, creating a desire to find all the numbers. The approach is a refreshing change from repetitive systems. The typography is well chosen and fits with the functionality of its use. Colour and size are selectively bold or understated as appropriate to create a hierarchy of information. Numerals, messages and icons are layered in a variety of materials and add interest and depth to the program.”

LivingWell Health Clubs Signage Design by Studio Gerber

SEGD Merit Award

LivingWell Health Clubs

Jury’s Comments

“What a fun graphic treatment for a fun environment! This is a very good example of what graphics and graphic designers can do when they like their subject. The level of detail carried through on the theme with the mosaic imagery done in a tile reminiscent of a swimming pool was very clever and understated. Many of the surfaces had a graphic quality not only in lettering styles but also reinforced with texture and light. Innovative restroom signage in this playful, inviting space lets you choose your mood independent of the health club experience that you perceive.”
