PROJECT NAME
City Recital Hall
LOCATION
Sydney
City Recital Hall in Sydney is a purpose built concert venue with the capacity for 1,238 guests seated over three tiers of sloped seating. It was specifically designed for solo recitals, chamber music and the spoken word.
With this project, an analysis of the space, architecture, destinations and circulation took place before the design and schedule of wayfinding signs and graphics could be developed. Early in the design process it was decided that signs are to be modular and interchangeable.
A set of sign mock-ups were developed to test the graphics and suitable consistent locations. A convention for naming and pictograms was developed to finalise the content schedule.
The result is a suite of signs that inform the patrons without competing with the complex interior architecture and colour scheme.
