Signage strategy for the city-wide pedestrian network and parks, for a city with a population of 130,000. The signage program includes entry markers and park identifiers, featuring maps and regulatory signage.
The challenge was to develop a design, which was cognisant of the significance of the city, its heritage, the present and future. The design takes the shape of an upright structure in order to be an optical holding point, to fit in to tight spaces and to have the graphics arranged vertically, in order to be recognised from a greater distance.
A contemporary design for the markers – featuring twin blades required the selection of a suitable, modern and legible typeface for naming of city and suburb vertically on each blade. A subtle version of the coloured city logo was applied to both blades as a watermark to visually connect the blades. The logo acts as the brand endorsement.
