PROJECT NAME
Chris O’Brien Lifehouse
LOCATION
Camperdown, Sydney, Australia
The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse is Australia’s largest integrated cancer care facility. The nine-storey, state-of-the-art building includes 96 inpatient beds, eight operating suites and procedure rooms and 18 intensive care and high dependency beds.
The design process included extensive consultations on the facility’s operation, flow of traffic, nomenclature and design that reflects the non-institutional character of the facility. Consultations on Nomenclature ensured that all services and destinations are named appropriately.
For this project the Architects HDR Rice Daubney won the World Health Building of the year award at World Architecture Festival in 2014.
