PROJECT NAME
Canterbury District Health Board, NZ
LOCATION
Christchurch, New Zealand
Minale Gerber (formerly known as Minale Tattersfield) was commissioned by The New Zealand Ministry of Health to develop the wayfinding strategy and design guidelines for Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB), particular for Christchurch and Burwood Hospitals and smaller health facilities in the district.
The guidelines contain detailed policies, principles, graphics, sign types and designs.
The district covers 44,500sqkm and serves a population of over half a million.
The Burwood Health Campus and the Christchurch Hospital are a $650 million redevelopment project, the biggest ever investment in public health facilities in New Zealand.
CDHB applied the Design Guidelines for signage planning and implementation at Burwood Hospital and for smaller district facilities such as Kaikoura, as shown.
